The Mirror Never Lies
About This Story
When Kate’s boyfriend walks out after a vicious argument, the silence he leaves behind becomes unbearable. Alone in their cramped apartment, she spirals into isolation, guilt, and paranoia as the familiar surroundings begin to feel distorted and hostile. Sleep-deprived and emotionally fractured, Kate becomes obsessed with the mirror hanging in her living room — convinced the woman staring back at her is changing in subtle, disturbing ways.
As the days blur together, Kate’s grip on reality weakens. The reflection seems calmer, colder, more confident than she feels herself — almost like a version of her capable of saying and doing the things she never could. What begins as anxiety and grief slowly mutates into something far more dangerous: a psychological breakdown where Kate can no longer tell where her thoughts end and this darker personality begins.
