Accessibility Information
Accessibility at Spookedly
We believe stories should be accessible to as many people as possible. Spookedly is an independently built platform designed, developed, and written by a solo creator, and accessibility is something we are continuously working to improve as the platform evolves.
Our Commitment
Accessibility is an ongoing priority for us. As a new independent platform with no outside funding or dedicated development team, improvements are being made gradually as resources allow.
We recognise that some areas of the experience are still limited, particularly within our custom-built e-reader and interactive reading interface. We are actively working to improve usability, compatibility, and overall accessibility over time.
We greatly appreciate feedback, patience, and suggestions from readers who help us identify areas that can be improved.
Current Accessibility Features
Custom Reading Controls
Readers can customise font size, font family, line spacing, and reading presentation to better suit individual comfort and readability preferences.
Theme Options
The reading interface supports dark mode, light mode, and sepia themes to help reduce visual strain in different environments.
Responsive Layouts
The platform is designed to function across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices with adaptable layouts and scalable content.
Keyboard & Navigation Support
Standard pages can generally be navigated with keyboard controls, though some bespoke interface elements are still being refined.
Screen Reader Support
At present, screen reader support is limited within certain interactive areas of the platform, particularly our bespoke e-reader experience.
Standard pages and content generally load correctly for assistive technologies, however some custom interface elements may still require manual navigation or may not yet behave as expected.
We understand this may create barriers for some users and we are continuing to improve support as development progresses.
Free Premium Access for Accessibility Needs
If a disability or accessibility requirement makes it difficult to use our standard reading experience, you may contact us to request complimentary premium access.
Premium members can download supported source materials which may be used with external accessibility tools, including screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Requests are reviewed individually and handled respectfully and in good faith.
Feedback & Reasonable Adjustments
We welcome suggestions, accessibility reports, and reasonable adjustment requests from readers.
If there is a feature, enhancement, or accessibility improvement that would make Spookedly easier for you to use, please let us know. Community feedback plays a major role in shaping future updates and prioritising improvements.
While we may not always be able to implement every request immediately, all feedback is read, appreciated, and carefully considered.
